HAPPY NEW YEAR to our members and friends!
New Year’s Day saw the best weather forecast for weeks with 20 keen walkers leaving behind the glittering lights of Christmas and meeting up at the base of the Wrekin in Shropshire. Though muddy underfoot and busy with fellow walkers, members old and new, young and old made their way up to the summit of the Welsh borders hill and were rewarded with a panorama of moody views stretching across the Midlands and into Wales. Some of us even saw a puffin!
The ways down and back around were spectacularly muddy, negotiating tricky slopes and balancing across narrow logs.
Some 5 miles or so of happy chatting and bog trotting saw everyone complete their walk around the Wrekin and head into the Buckatree Hotel for a welcome drink.
